1000 Candles for the Victims of the Earthquake in Nepal

In December 2015, Tibetfreunde, and participating schools and homes for the elderly in India and Nepal, started a one month long project dedicated to the victims of the 2015 earthquake in Nepal. The students and elderly people held ceremonies in which candles were lit to commemorate those who lost their lives and our friends and supporters were encouraged to join the project by lighting virtual candles on our website.
Our patron and famous Swiss photographer Manuel Bauer provided us with a series of touching photographs of the thousands of candles that were lit just after the quake in Kathmandu.
Many who were moved by the sight lit a candle on our website and also left behind beautiful comments. Tibetfreunde is grateful to all those who took part in the “1000 Candles for Nepal” project. The little slideshow featuring the ceremonies which were held during the project is our heartfelt thanks for your participation.
