Our Mission

We coordinate sponsorships for Tibetan children in need, aged persons, nuns, monks and students in India and Nepal. Additionally we support projects for education, health and agriculture in India, Nepal and Tibet, for the survival of Tibetan culture and religion and for the defence of human rights. We work closely with the various departments of the Tibetan Government in Exile in Dharamsala, who in turn place projects before us for support.

No Organisational Costs

The committee and office-holders of Tibetfreunde (Friends of Tibet) work voluntarily. Our administrative and publicity costs are correspondingly minimal, in fact 2.7 % of the total turnover for the year 2014. These overheads are paid from member contributions. Almost all subscription money is spent on our projects. Your gifts and sponsorship payments are forwarded to India and Nepal in their entirety.

Tax Exemption

We are a society for joint development work and humanitarian aid in countries of the Himalayan region within the meaning of Article 60 ff ZGB of Swiss Law, and are therefore free of tax. For the tax-free minima and maxima of gifts and covenants within your Canton of residence, please consult this link. We can on request issue a certificate for gifts and covenanted payments made to our society.
