The Tibetan Delek Hospital in Dharamsala has provided general medical care since 1971 for Tibetans and for local people in and near Dharamsala. The Dalai Lama is patron of the 45-bed hospital.
Emphasis is placed on treating tuberculosis which is widespread among Tibetans. A well-established mother-and-child health program is also in place to combat an underprovided need.
Treatment costs are exceptionally low, in order that the very poorest may be treated in this hospital. Patients are often treated free.

Inpatient Ward

The hospital is for these reasons constantly dependent on donations. The Delek Hospital performs invaluable service to the local popoulation despite financial constraint and infrastructure which is largely dated.
The continued operation of this clinic, supported so far with donations, is anything but secure. Every gift of money is welcome, even the smallest.
