We have been in close touch with the TCV organisation since our society (Tibetfreunde) began. TCV currently cares for about 16,000 children and young people in foundations like boarding schools, day schools, infants’ day centres and student houses. TCV takes children from the poorest of circumstances. Children even now fleeing Tibet find a new home in TCV boarding schools.
We have helped some 500 children at TCV find a sponsor.
Costs:
A sponsorship costs 40,540 Indian Rupees (CHF 550) a year and it’s possible to send the money straight to TCV. Their secretariat replies with a letter of thanks and the receipt. If it brings pleasure you may correspond with your sponsored child and send parcels. Many sponsors have visited and met their sponsored child at TCV schools. These visits have brought great joy to sponsor and child.
Your money buys the following things:
- Educational Costs
- Catering and Boarding Accommodation
- Medical Care
- School Materials
- Uniform, Other Clothing, Shoes
- Pocket Money according to Age
Becoming a Sponsor:
As sponsor you have not entered into an obligation, but it’s helpful if you maintain your support for the child he or she leaves school. That is several years depending what age the child is at the start of sponsorship.
You receive regular reports of the child’s school progress
