Dhubthob Rinpoche (1929-2013) founded the Manjushri Di-Chen Buddhist Learning Center in 1996. This school is sited uphill from the small village of Parphing, near the Tara Temple. The school is home to about 65 novice monks aged from 6 to 20. These young people are from poor families living far away in the mountainous northern region bordering Tibet, where no school is available to them
At the MDBLC the monks have a structured dauly routine with study, free time, sport, and recreation. Their education is demanding and includes Buddhist and secular subjects. Great value is placed on handing on Tibetan culture and philosophy. The monks may continue to further education in India.
Costs:
Sponsorship costs CHF 550 per year and pays for accommodation, food, clothing, school materials and medical care. As always in Tibetan monastic schools, the money is used in common. This avoids the exclusion of any youth who lacks individial financial help.
